My name is Leroy Griffith Jr., and I was born on the picturesque island of Trinidad and Tobago before growing up in the dynamic borough of Brooklyn, New York. As a singer-songwriter, I am known by my stage name, Mr. Lee G, and I have had the privilege of using music as a bridge to connect cultures and inspire change.
In 2009, while performing with my band, The Congo Man Crew, in Åre, Sweden, I received an incredible opportunity to perform at the Desert Festival in Timbuktu, Mali. In 2011, I made my first journey to Africa for this transformative event. That experience opened my eyes to the remarkable resilience and boundless potential of the people I encountered. It also deepened my gratitude for the opportunities I’ve had growing up in the Caribbean and the United States.
Inspired by the friendships I formed and the stories I heard, I felt a powerful calling to give back. Initially, I supported small projects with my own resources, but I quickly realized that the needs were far greater than I could address alone. This realization led to the creation of A Time To Give Back To Africa Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
As the CEO of this organization, I am dedicated to empowering African youth through initiatives in sports, music, agriculture, and education. Our mission is to provide resources and opportunities that help young people break the cycle of poverty and build brighter futures.
In addition to my work with the organization, I am also a cybersecurity enthusiast, blending my passion for technology with my commitment to creating positive change.
What began as a personal desire to give back has evolved into a heartfelt mission to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those who need it most. This journey continues to inspire me every day, and I am honored to work alongside others who share the vision of a stronger, brighter Africa.
