Our Mission and Vision
A Time To Give Back To Africa Inc. is driven by the conviction that empowerment through essential resources is the fastest path to lasting change.
Since 2012, our mission has been to bridge the resource gap in education, sports, and food security for youths and families in two vital regions: West Africa (Mali, Nigeria, Ghana) and the Caribbean (Trinidad and Tobago). We provide the tools—from soccer cleats and laptops to books and hot meals—to ensure that every child has the opportunity to realize their full potential.
The Founder's Journey: From the Sidelines to Global Impact
The commitment of A Time To Give Back To Africa Inc. is rooted in the personal experience of its CEO and Founder, Leroy Griffith Jr.
Leroy’s childhood on the unforgiving streets of Trinidad and Tobago was marked by exclusion. Though he loved football (soccer), his single mother, prioritizing shelter and food, could not afford the basic gear—cleats, shin guards, and socks. This painful barrier instilled in him a lifelong understanding of how small resource deficits create massive obstacles to a child's dreams.
The Spark of a Global Mission
After migrating to the United States and playing soccer through college, Leroy’s connection to his ancestral roots led him to travel to Africa in 2011 to perform with his band at a desert festival in Timbuktu, Mali.
It was in Bamako that the mission was truly born. Watching children play barefoot on a dirt field—conditions that mirrored and often exceeded the hardship of his own early years—Leroy had an immediate realization: he had to act. He launched his first campaign in Gao, Mali, initially funding all donations himself, before formalizing his passion in 2016 by establishing the non-profit.
Leveraging Expertise for Results
As CEO and Founder, Leroy leverages his academic training in Business Management and Project Management to ensure the organization's work is not only heartfelt but strategically effective and results-driven. Our dual focus on the Caribbean (a promise to his home community) and Africa (a connection to his heritage) is a deeply personal endeavor, ensuring that no child is ever forced to watch from the sidelines again.
